What does a New Type of Tough (M34’s slogan) mean to you?
To me, A New Type of Tough means that you aren't afraid to break societal norms and talk about your struggles. It means that you're strong enough to say the hard things you're feeling and experiencing in life. It's the strength to know that you aren't alone, and that being vulnerable and opening up about your struggles, no matter how small, is incredibly tough and an admirable thing to do.

Meet Sam
I was born and raised in Kansas City, MO, but I've lived in Chicago since 2019. I live with my girlfriend, Graham McIntosh (Charlotte native, Denison alum, friends with Sean and the Bonner's) in the Lincoln Park area of the city.
I attended Denison University from 2015-2018, where I played baseball all four years, and was teammates with Sean in 2017 and 2018. After Denison, I moved to Chicago and started working for a company that specializes in healthcare information services. However, the last 12 months I shifted my career and I started working in retail commercial real estate.
My Dad and Sister (and future brother-in-law) both live in Kansas City. My mom passed away from pancreatic cancer in 2016, and my dad recently got remarried on July 1, 2026. So, I now have a new step mom, step sister, step brother, and a step brother-in-law and step sister-in-law -- all of whom are fantastic. My mom was born and raised in Colorado, so we always vacationed out there growing up, and actually have a house in Avon, CO (near Beaver Creek). I'm an avid snow skier and a newly minted golf addict as of 2020. I enjoy working out and being active, hanging with friends, and watching sports.
